Why So Sleepy?
Sleep is one of the blessings that
nature has bestowed us with. It helps us to relax and take our minds off the
work for sometimes. When we sleep, we forget the tensions and problems of the
world. It is the nature’s way of cutting us some slack. When we wake up, we are
fresh and ready to start a new day with a new energy. But, this is not the case
for everyone!
Being sleepy even after getting the required amount can be
miserable and halts our daily life chores. If you are also the one who has to
struggle to keep your eyes open during a presentation or a meeting then you can
understand how much difficult it is to keep one’s mind and eyes off the
dizziness. There might be a number of reasons due to which one can doze off
anywhere, anytime. Here are some of the possible causes of sleeping disorders.
Sleep Apnea
It is a condition where a person
stops breathing during sleeping and suddenly wakes up by gasping for air. It
can occurs frequently in a single sleep cycle or just for once as well. People
who experience such condition are more prone to have a lack of sleep and
feeling a fatigue when they are awake. If you are also the one who wakes up due
to a snort or a shudder then you should definitely consult a doctor as this
might be the cause of your dozing off all the times!
Depression
Depression is a serious illness
that is becoming very common in today’s generation. Though we all have
different types of depression but most of the times, changes in the sleeping
patterns is consistent in all types. If you have mood swings, feelings of
worthlessness, fatigue and null energy levels, then you might be a victim of
anxiety or depression.
There are two different instances in this case; some
people suddenly develops insomnia because of some tension and as soon as the
problem is relieved, they start feeling sleepy as they didn’t get enough sleep
when they were depressed. Alternatively; for some people, sleepiness becomes a
major issue when they are depressed or sad.
Smart Phones
Yes! One of the major reasons why
people especially us millennials are having the dozing problems is the use of
excessive smart phones at night. Few Researches have found that when our eyes
are exposed to the light at night, our bodies stop making the hormone
“melatonin” that is responsible for making us sleep. Thus, a glitch is created
in our sleeping cycles due to the technology.
Lack of Water
Hydration plays a key role in
keeping our moods right at the track. The feeling of irritations, fatigue,
being cranky are all contributed to the lack of water as parts of our brains
start to shrink when we don’t drink enough water. So, the next time you feel
sleepy, make sure that you have a water bottle with you.
For the prevention of serious sleep
attacks, consult a doctor and follow a healthy diet and try to stay away from
the caffeine products.
